A range of clamp termination, field-assembly, fibre optic connectors with factory polished interfaces pre-fitted in to the ferrule. The patented 'dual cam' termination secures both the fibre and sheath in a single operation and allows re-termination if connectors need to be re-fitted or reused. The tooling includes an inbuilt laser source allowing visual inspection during and after termination. This purely mechanical process avoids the need for adhesives, UV or oven curing and hand polishing. The consistent termination quality and zirconia ceramic ferrules offer long term performance equivalent to epoxy polished styles with a typical insertion loss of 0.3dB per mated pair for both multimode and singlemode fibre.
Pre-polished Fibre Connectors
LC and SC styles for OM1, OM2 and OM3/OM4 '10Gig' multimode, and OS1/OS2 singlemode fibres are available. ST styles are available for OM1 62.5/125um and OM2 50/125um fibre. All connectors are suitable for tight-buffered 900um diameter fibres. For 1.6/2.0mm or 3.0mm fibre jackets, additional colour-coded strain-relief boots should be ordered separately. They require no adhesive and provide mechanical cable retention that meets or exceeds industry standards. The Panduit colour coding convention is:

Termination tool kits
Termination takes a fraction of the time needed for a hand-polished process and offers a more consistent result. All fibre preparation tooling, safety equipment and cleaning materials are contained in the Panduit Opticam termination kit. Termination simply requires the fibre to be striped and cleaved then inserted into the connector-ferrule held in the tool. Visual inspection can be made to ensure a light-tight joint before and after the cam is rotated to lock the fibre in place.
