Due to business expansion we are looking to recruit for the following positions:

Production Operator Apprentice (Washington)


DEPARTMENT: Production
REPORTS TO: Shawn Pretorius
LOCATION: Washington, Tyne & Wear
HOURS: 37.5 hours per Week
SALARY: Exceeds National Apprenticeship Rate

Summary of Role:To support the Production Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the department by ensuring the assembly of products to timescales and zero defects.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assembly of products to match specification
• Successfully build all products within National Time Standards
• Full accountability for all products to ensure zero defects when passed for final test
• Ensuring all work and tasks carried out are to the highest standard
• Working towards strict Production schedules, ensuring all deadlines and targets are met
• Adapt and support all Lean Manufacturing Principles and look to promote continuous improvement throughout the Production site
• Participate in regular 5S programmes
• Ensure good housekeeping at all times to fully comply with all Health and Safety regulations
• Working within a small team, it is critical that each team member has a strong work ethic and the ability to carry out their own tasks within a timely manner
• Willingness to continuously develop own skills to ensure a high-quality standard to our customers
• Communicate effectively with Line Manager and all other colleagues
• Maintain a professional manner, ensuring the excellent customer service reputation at Canford Audio Limited is retained
• To work within the Company’s policies and procedures
• Willing to be trained with in-house products and increase skills in current IPC standards
• Attend any training to comply with legislation & the development of the department
• To complete an apprenticeship qualification whilst undertaking essential knowledge and skills within the role.

Skills / Competencies:
• Ability to read & understand process documents & technical drawings
• Ability to use assembly tooling
• Ability to achieve IPC-J standard
• Good attention to detail
• Health & Safety observant
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Problem-solving skills..

Qualifications / Experience Required:
• Basic soldering & wiring (not essential)
• Electronic assembly work (not essential)
• Maths and English Grade 4-9 or A-C (Functional Skills Level 2).

Apprenticeship Qualification:
You will be required to complete a Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative qualification as part of your apprenticeship through our external training provider. Duration is 12-18 months which includes the End Point Assessment.

Warehouse Assistant Apprentice (Washington)


DEPARTMENT: Warehouse
REPORTS TO: David Callaghan
LOCATION: Washington, Tyne & Wear
HOURS: 37.5 hours per Week
SALARY: Exceeds National Apprenticeship Rate

Summary of Role:To support the Warehouse Manager and Team Leaders in processing all incoming and outgoing orders accurately and consistently whilst identifying and reporting any problems. To ensure that all customer orders are despatched within the expected timeframe.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Receipt, verification, labelling and booking in of stock
• Prepare goods for stock by re-packing and using counting scales and heat-sealing equipment
• Replenish all completed stock in appropriate location in the warehouse
• Stock checking and rectifying stock
• Pick orders for internal and external customers
• Check picked orders to ensure accuracy - picked goods are correct and quantities verified
• Pack orders adequately for despatch ensuring no damages to contents
• Use of FLT to pick orders and load / unload vehicles
• Use of the cable winding machines to cut cable to customers specified lengths
• Housekeeping – to always maintain a safe working environment
• Communicate effectively with Team Leaders and all other colleagues
• Maintain a professional manner, ensuring the excellent customer service reputation at Canford Audio Limited is retained
• To work within the Company’s policies and procedures
• Willing to be trained with in-house products, processes and procedures
• Attend any training to comply with legislation & the development of the department.

Skills / Competencies:
• Computer Literacy: Microsoft Office, basic Word skills
• Team-working
• Attention to detail
• Flexible attitude.

Qualifications / Experience Required:
• Maths and English Grade 4-9 or A-C (Functional Skills Level 2).
