OD5 - Active dynamic, cardioid
OD5 is an active-dynamic microphone optimised for use on instruments such as drums, wind instruments or guitar amplifiers. A swivel-joint mechanism has been implemented to simplify the positioning of the instrument microphone. This suspension system on the microphone basket allows a 220-degree rotation of the field, therefore allowing the microphone to be better aligned to the sound source.
A feature already known from the OD505 vocal microphone is the active-dynamic circuit. This ensures that even long cable runs have no negative effect on the signal. In addition, the active-dynamic design allows the integration of a proper high-pass filter. In the OD5, a CAB (cut and boost) filter is applied at 80Hz, which is particularly well suited for use with guitar amplifiers, for example. This filter removes low frequency sound that cannot be used and at the same time captures the useful signal pressure in the bass range. The second position at 120Hz is a common 2nd order high-pass filter. Another feature of the OD5 instrument microphone is the pad switch. In the zero position, the active dynamic microphone has a sensitivity usually found in condenser microphones, making it more difficult to overdrive the capsule. The -10dB pad can be employed to protect downstream mic preamps from clipping when they have no signal cutting capability themselves.

OC7 - Condenser, cardioid
OC7 has the same build features as OD5, however it houses a condenser capsule as opposed to an active dynamic capsule. CC8 features the OCC7 small-diaphragm condenser capsule, which when combined with the transformerless output gives the OC7 a linear frequency response, handling extremely high sound pressure levels of up to 154dB, or 160dB with pad engaged.

CC8 - Condenser, cardioid
CC8 is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone that 'adapts a classic sound for modern artists and producers'. The cardioid microphone is said to provide a 'natural and open sound without becoming harsh or spiky'. The mid frequencies and high frequencies are not exaggerated resulting in a microphone that can capture detailed recordings of various acoustic instruments, such as stringed instruments, woodwinds and brass, and orchestral percussion. In addition, instruments like acoustic guitar, piano, snares, hi-hat, and entire drum sets can be captured in the studio or in live situation.
The integrated OCC7 capsule and transformerless output gives the CC8 a linear frequency response, handling high sound pressure levels of up to 156dB. Before leaving the factory, each microphone is measured to a tolerance of maximum +/-0.5dB sensitivity at 1kHz. This ensures any CC8 can be match-paired with any other, regardless of production dates.
