DPA MICROPHONES - N Series Wireless

N-Series wireless from DPA is a fully digital, true diversity, wideband system that has been designed for professional use in broadcast, corporate events, live performance, and houses of worship. The Like DPA microphones, N-Series is said to ensure that the clear, true sound is captured, without any unwanted flavour added to the original sound.

The system allows 24-bit audio with up to 126dB dynamic range. AES-256 hardware encryption is supported to provide privacy between transmitter and receiver link. A wide-band frequency range of 470MHz to 870MHz ensures accessibility to vacant channels - 'even the most crowded environments'.

DPA Audio Controller software allows remote control and monitoring of the system via either PC or Mac. It also features a frequency analyser that covers the entire bandwidth of the system. The software operates in two primary windows: Monitor & Control and Frequency Management, which contains the spectrum analyser. It is possible to control and read out states via a 3rd party control system from manufacturers such as Crestron, AMX, Extron and others. The control systems will be communicating with the Receiver via the OSC Protocol.

Usage Note: Licensing and legal use information for radiomic equipment in this product group is applicable to the UK only. Customers should check with the relevant regulatory body for the territory the equipment is to be used in prior to purchase to ensure appropriate legal usage and local environmental restrictions.

N-DR1 Receiver, Dante output

N-DR1 is a digital, dual-channel receiver that employs true diversity. The receiver is equipped as standard with a Dante output, albeit the optional N-AO module adds analogue outputs (pre-installed on N-DR1-AO). The Dante output affords the ability to run as single connection or in true redundancy, i.e. Primary/Secondary set-up. DPA recommend using the Dante output to avoid signal degradation and latency caused by D/A conversion.

The number of channels that any system can pack depends on the availability of availability of spectrum, but in an ideal world with no governmental restrictions and disturbing TV channels or radio frequency transmitting systems, N-DR1 can reach a 800 possible channels. In practical terms a user is limited to the allowed slots given in the specific area where the equipment is being used.

The front facing panel of the receiver features 6.35mm headphone jack output with associated volume control, LED indicators for antenna and overload status, and LED metering for audio output level for each channel. Two transmitter synchronisation buttons are located to the left of the main display and alongside channel select buttons. The main display allows access to menus, aided by a navigation push/turn encoder; and current status of wireless channel number/name, frequency, encryption status, low-cut status, and transmitter battery level amongst other aids. A main power button is positioned to the right of the receiver.

The rear facing panel has a single IEC mains power input, Primary and Secondary Dante connections, switched LAN connections for control via TCP and UDP, and AB antenna connections and active loop-through connections on BNC.

N-DR1-AO Receiver, Dante/Analogue output

This is as N-DR1 however in addition to Dante output, N-DR1-AO features analogue outputs on 3-pin XLR connection.

Included accessories: 2x passive omnidirectional antenna, 2x 50ohm coaxial cables for front mount antenna, 2x BNC adaptors for front mount antenna, power cord, Ethernet cable.

N-BP1 Bodypack transmitter

Available in two options, N-BP-90 with MicroLock connection, and N-BP-03 with 3-pin LEMO connection, both with a wideband frequency offering of 470MHz to 870MHz.

A dynamic range of 126dB, achieved using stacked converter technology and optimized circuitry around the input stage and A/D conversion, allows the user to employ the bodypack transmitter without the need to set the gain on the transmitter. It is, however, possible to change the level via an offset of the signal to balance sources with each other, but this is all done in the digital domain and thus referred to as digital TRIM via a knob on the receiver.

N-BP1 is synchronized with the N-DR1 receiver via infrared communication. An IR Sync Window on the bodypack is located inside the device, accessible when the front battery cover is in the open position. As default, all transmitter settings are mirrored in the receiver and will be sent to the transmitter when synchronized. Other menu and status displays are also accessible via the on bodypack screen. A programmable function button is positioned between microphone input and antenna. The batteries are accessible via a slide and tilt cover.

The bodypacks can broadcast with a range of transmission settings including 1mW, 5mW, 10mW, 20mW, and 50mW. Bodypack antenna can be removed for transportation and storage.
