CANFORD FIBRE OPTIC MULTIPLEX TRANSPORT SYSTEM

The Canford fibre optic multiplex transport system lowers the cost of distributing digital video and simplifies and extends cable systems by multiplexing up to sixteen SDI signals over a single SM optical fibre. Transceiver units are housed in 1U cases.

It provides transport of eight SDI signals (3G , HD, and SD, with embedded audio and data), over a single optical fibre, four channels in each direction. All SDI ports are fully re-clocked automatically, with automatic rate detection, so that jitter caused by long coaxial runs will not affect the maximum optical run-length and vice versa. Cable equalisation is also automatic. Systems are available in the lower optical band; this avoids water peak wavelength to give maximum optical reach over conventional fibre (ITU-T G.625 A&B).

The front panel has an OLED screen which displays optical power, SDI signal presence, temperature and system voltages. Alarms can be set up to trigger an audible tone or relay contact-closure, giving peace of mind when it comes to detecting and resolving distance, grounding and interference issues.

The system has been used extensively in the field by one of Europe's largest OB facilities providers at events including the London Olympics and Royal Jubilee celebrations.

Both AC and DC power inputs are provided for flexibility and power redundancy.
