MARANTZ BALANCED INTERFACE - PMD-602A - For DSLR camera

The PMD-602A is a compact, two-channel, audio interface designed to be attached to and work with DSLR cameras. It can be attached to the underside of a camera by a standard, quarter-inch, threaded stud which screws into the camera tripod bush. The base of the PMD602 has a threaded bush to mount it on a camera tripod.

Running off four AA battery cells the PMD602A can provide audio processing for up to 15 hours, or up to 12 hours when providing either 12V or 48V phantom power to any connected microphones. The level of phantom power can selected globally, but operated individually on either of the two inputs, which are via combined 3-pin XLR plus jack connectors. Each of the two input channels can be switched to suit 'PH' (phantom), 'MIC' (microphone), or 'LINE' sources; separate rotary controls allow the user to select the most appropriate input level. Each channel also has selectable limiter with red LED illuminating when the limiter in effect to automatically adjust the input level to reduce the chance of distortion. An eight-stage LED tree gives clear indication of the total input level.

A 3.5mm TRS jack monitor input allows the user to input a source such as that from a DSLR output so that the signal can be mixed before output to a recording device via the 3.5mm output jack socket. This output socket could be connected to the input of the DSLR camera when using external microphones to improve the capture over the microphone's own internal microphone system.

A 3.5mm stereo jack headphone output with separate rotary volume control can be switched to either monitor the pre-amplified input or a sum of the input to be sent to an external recording device or DSLR. The unit can be used in mono or stereo mode via switch situated on the rear facing panel of the unit.
